Journal History

GOTAVA: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Yayasan Sumber Daya Manusia Cerdas. The journal was first published in June 2023 and is registered with E-ISSN 2987-8942. All published issues and articles are available through the journal’s official website.

GOTAVA publishes two issues annually, in June and December. During its initial publication period, the journal primarily focused on community service and community empowerment articles involving the application of knowledge from various disciplines.

From its establishment in 2023 through June 2025, the journal was published under the title GOTAVA: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat. After June 2025, as part of the journal’s academic development and the expansion of its scholarly scope, the journal adopted the title GOTAVA: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat.

The development of the journal’s title was accompanied by a broader scholarly orientation designed to accommodate both applied research and evidence-based community service. The journal subsequently strengthened its focus on contributions related to community well-being, resilient livelihoods, sustainable local development, and applied problems that have clear scientific and practical relevance.

Beginning with Volume 4 in 2026, GOTAVA formally expanded its publication scope to include Research Articles alongside Community Service Articles. Under this development, the journal’s scholarly focus is organized around three interconnected principal domains:

  1. Public Health and Community Well-Being
  2. Sustainable Agri-Food and Livelihood Systems
  3. Local Economic Development, MSMEs, and Supply Chain and Logistics Management

Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary contributions are considered when they are clearly anchored in at least one of these domains and demonstrate broader scientific, practical, managerial, policy, or societal relevance.

GOTAVA currently maintains its June and December issue schedule while implementing a Publish as You Go model. Articles that have successfully completed editorial assessment, peer review, final acceptance, copyediting, and production may be published progressively in the current issue without waiting for all articles assigned to that issue to be completed. During this process, the current issue may remain designated as In Progress until its full contents have been finalized.

Since 2023, GOTAVA has also participated in the professional journal-management community through its membership in Relawan Jurnal Indonesia (RJI). This participation forms part of the Editorial Team’s continuing efforts to strengthen editorial competence, professional journal governance, and good practices in scholarly publishing.

As part of its institutional development, GOTAVA submitted an application for national journal accreditation through the Akreditasi Jurnal Ilmiah Nasional (ARJUNA) system in August 2025 and passed the desk-evaluation stage on 7 December 2025.

Based on the Decree of the Director General of Science and Technology, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Number 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026, dated 24 July 2026, GOTAVA was designated as a Nationally Accredited Rank 4 Journal (SINTA 4). The accreditation is valid from Volume 1, Issue 2, 2023 through Volume 6, Issue 1, 2028.

The journal’s ISSN record lists Gotava as the title proper and Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat as a title variant under E-ISSN 2987-8942. Following the development of the journal’s title and scholarly scope, the Editorial Team has undertaken the harmonization of journal metadata across relevant publishing, registration, accreditation, and indexing services in order to maintain consistency in GOTAVA’s bibliographic identity.

The development of GOTAVA reflects its evolution from a journal primarily devoted to community service into a scholarly journal that integrates applied research and evidence-based community service, while maintaining peer review, open access, editorial integrity, and structured scholarly publishing.
