About the Journal

GOTAVA: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat  is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Yayasan Sumber Daya Manusia Cerdas. The journal advances applied knowledge and evidence-based community service that contribute to community well-being, resilient livelihoods, and sustainable local development.

GOTAVA is positioned at the intersection of three interconnected domains:

  1. Public Health and Community Well-Being

  2. Sustainable Agri-Food and Livelihood Systems, including agriculture, fisheries, livestock, food production and processing, food security, and related value chains

  3. Local Economic Development, MSMEs, and Supply Chain and Logistics Management.

These domains are united by a systems-oriented commitment to improving population health, strengthening food and livelihood security, supporting local enterprises, and enhancing the movement of goods, services, and resources essential to resilient and sustainable communities. Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches are welcomed when they are clearly anchored in at least one of the journal’s principal domains and contribute to its overarching scholarly focus.

GOTAVA prioritizes manuscripts that address clearly defined societal or community problems, apply rigorous and appropriate methods, and generate findings, interventions, models, or practices with demonstrable scientific and practical value. Although studies may be grounded in specific local contexts, authors are expected to articulate their broader relevance, implications, or potential for adaptation and replication in other settings.

The journal primarily publishes original research articles and community service articles. Original research articles should provide novel and methodologically sound evidence with clear scientific, practical, managerial, or policy implications. Community service articles should present evidence-informed and systematically designed interventions based on identified community needs, supported by measurable outcomes, critical evaluation, and a credible pathway toward sustainability, adaptation, or replication. Descriptive reports that merely document activities without sufficient analytical depth, evaluative evidence, or scholarly contribution are not within the journal’s editorial priorities.

GOTAVA may also consider review articles, case studies and best practices, technical notes or briefs, and short communications when they offer a substantial and clearly articulated contribution to the journal’s thematic domains.

All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment for relevance, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, and conformity with the journal’s requirements. Manuscripts that satisfy the editorial criteria are evaluated by two or three external peer reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations and the academic judgment of the Editorial Team.

The editorial and publication process generally includes an initial desk review, external peer review, author revision, copyediting, production, and online publication. Under normal circumstances and assuming one revision cycle, the overall process may take approximately two to five months from submission to online publication. Actual processing times may vary depending on manuscript quality, reviewer availability, the extent and number of revisions required, and the authors’ responsiveness. These estimated timelines do not constitute a guarantee of acceptance or publication within a specified period.

GOTAVA publishes two issues annually, scheduled for June and December, and implements a “Publish as You Go” model. Articles that have completed peer review and received final acceptance proceed through copyediting and production before being published in the current issue with an “In Progress” status, without waiting for the issue to be completed.

The primary readership of GOTAVA includes researchers, academics, practitioners, professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders working within the journal’s principal scholarly domains.
